Washington State University in Vancouver will kick off construction of its new undergraduate classroom building later this month. Glenn Mosley reports.

The $16 million building will give WSU Vancouver a permanent home for its programs in education and provide additional classrooms that university officials say are needed to accommodate full-time, four-year students.

The building will include thirteen classrooms, two computer labs, and faculty office space and administrative space for the College of Education.

University officials say the new building and its surroundings have been designed as the campus’ first Leadership in Environmental and Energy design certified project under the Green Building Rating System.

The construction contract has been awarded to the Triplett Wellman Company of Woodburn, Oregon, and the job is expected to be completed in the fall of 2009.
