UPS officially opened a new multi-million dollar sorting and delivery station in Portland Friday. As Kristian Foden-Vencil reports, the company expects significant growth in the area.

The package delivery company has several facilities on Swan Island.

It's consolidating operations into the new $86 million station, complete with trailer staging areas, sorting machines and 46 acres of parking.

UPS spokeswoman, Jessica Scrace, says the company expects significant growth in this part of the country.

Jessica Scrace: "We doubled the capacity of our Portland hub from 20,000 packages an hour to 40,000 packages an hour. And that is again to meet the future demands that we anticipate in the Portland area."

Scrace says UPS has about 1600 employees locally and that's expected to grow as business increases.
